U11 Hockey Tournament in South Dorset

On Monday, the U11 Hockey team played their first ever hockey matches, playing in a tournament against Castle Court and Talbot Heath School.

The girls were so excited to play their first competitive games, and to their credit their enthusiasm did not wane at all throughout the day. Everyone played brilliantly considering we had only had a couple of weeks of team training prior to the tournament. The first game was extremely close, with some great all around play leading to us having a number of chances in the opposition D. We were unfortunately unable to convert these chances and let in a couple of late goals.

The girls then played a strong Castle Court side, who buoyed by their home advantage, attacked superbly throughout. Our defensive players held firm for much of the first half, with Roussi and Annie putting in plenty of tackles, and Sophia making more saves than I could count on two hands!

Despite the results, the girls played brilliantly in their first ever hockey matches, with plenty of promising signs for the future. We’ll all be counting down the days until next year’s hockey season. Well done girls on a fantastic afternoon of hockey.
