Netball Success at North Dorset Tournament

A fantastic North Dorset Tournament for the U15 team this week.

With new team members and trying out new player combinations, we came into this tournament not knowing the full strength of the team. Bego has transferred her basketball skills into excellent netball play and everyone that stepped on the court rose to the challenge and secured win after win throughout the day! We beat Gillingham, Blandford and Clayesmore before having to face Bryanston. The game was exciting from start to finish and we were leading right up until the last few minutes when Bryanston equalled our score just as the whistle blew.

The final match was against Sherborne Girls and, despite their best efforts, St Mary’s were unstoppable and won 11-8.

This meant we finished with equal points to Bryanston but sadly, when it came down to goal difference, we narrowly missed being overall winners but celebrated our well-deserved runners up position. This means we have still earned a place in the County Finals after half term.

All members of the team played their part with Dodo, Bell and Lucy in defence making interception after interception, Olivia holding it steady and supporting everyone in the centre and attack working incredibly hard to maintain possession, with Emily creating space down the court and Alexa and Bego securing goals with cool confidence. We are incredibly proud of the team and cannot wait show everyone what we are made of at the County Tournament after half term.
